Paraphrasing Tool

Reword any passage with AI while keeping the meaning. Pick a style: Standard, Fluent, Formal, Simple, Creative, or Academic.

Same meaning, different words

You wrote a sentence and it reads fine. It just sounds like the last three sentences you wrote. Or you’ve quoted a source and need to put it in your own words before it lands in a report. Maybe a paragraph is technically correct but clunky, and you want it to flow.

The Paraphrasing Tool rewrites your text so the meaning stays put while the wording and sentence structure change. Paste a passage on the left, pick a style from the dropdown, hit Paraphrase, and the reworked version shows up on the right. Copy it, download it, or tweak it from there.

Here’s the honest part: this runs on an AI model, so your text gets sent to a server, rewritten there, and sent back. It’s not happening on your machine. Worth knowing if you’re pasting anything sensitive.

The six styles, and what each one actually changes

The dropdown isn’t decoration. Each mode pushes the rewrite in a real direction:

  • Standard keeps things close to your original. Light reshuffling, swapped vocabulary, same register.
  • Fluent smooths awkward phrasing. Good when the meaning’s right but the sentences stumble.
  • Formal strips contractions and casual word choices. Think cover letters, client emails, policy docs.
  • Simple shortens and flattens. It trades fancy words for plain ones, so a non-native reader or a tired skimmer gets it fast.
  • Creative takes the most liberty. Fresh metaphors, varied rhythm, a bit of personality. Riskier, but interesting.
  • Academic leans dense and precise. Hedged claims, third-person framing, the vocabulary a journal reviewer expects.

Run the same paragraph through Formal and then Creative. The contrast between the two outputs tells you more about the modes than any description here can.

How to use it

  1. Drop your text into the input box on the left.
  2. Open the style dropdown and pick one.
  3. Click Paraphrase.
  4. Read the result on the right, then copy or download it.

Don’t love the output? Change the style and run it again. Two passes in different modes often gets you somewhere you wouldn’t have reached in one.

A few things worth knowing

Paraphrasing isn’t a magic anti-plagiarism button. Reword a source all you want, the ideas still belong to whoever wrote them, so cite them. The tool changes phrasing, not authorship.

It also won’t fact-check you. If your original sentence says something wrong, the rewrite says it wrong in nicer words. Garbage in, polished garbage out.

Short fragments don’t give the model much to work with. A four-word phrase has maybe one or two ways to be reworded. Feed it a full sentence or paragraph and you’ll see the styles actually flex.

And read the result before you ship it. AI sometimes drifts on technical terms or proper nouns, swapping a precise word for a looser one. Quick scan, fix the one thing it got wrong, done.

Questions people ask

Will the meaning change when it rewrites? It shouldn’t. The whole job is keeping the meaning and changing the words. That said, Creative mode takes more risk than Standard, so for anything where precision matters, stick to Standard or Formal and proofread.

Can I paraphrase a whole essay at once? Better to go paragraph by paragraph. Long blocks can get trimmed or lose the thread, and you’ll get tighter results feeding it a few hundred words at a time.

Does this help me avoid plagiarism detectors? No, and don’t count on it for that. Detectors flag copied ideas, not just copied wording. Paraphrasing without a citation is still plagiarism. Use it to phrase your own thinking better.

What languages does it handle? English works best across all six styles. It’ll attempt other languages, but the style modes are tuned for English, so expect weaker results elsewhere.

Is there a length limit or a cost? It’s free with no account. There’s a practical ceiling on input length, so very long documents should go in chunks rather than one giant paste.
