Open Graph Generator

Generate Open Graph meta tags for social media sharing with live preview

Someone shares your blog post on LinkedIn. Without OG tags, LinkedIn grabs whatever it can, maybe a random image from your sidebar, maybe the wrong title, maybe no description at all. Your carefully written article looks like spam. That’s what happens when you skip Open Graph tags.

This tool generates the og: meta tags that tell Facebook, LinkedIn, Pinterest, and other platforms exactly what title, description, image, and URL to display. A live preview shows the share card as you build it.

The Tags That Matter

og:title: what appears as the link headline. Keep it under 60 characters. Make it compelling, not just descriptive.

og:description: the text beneath the title. Under 200 characters. Think of it as social media ad copy.

og:image: the single most important tag. Share cards without images get dramatically less engagement. Use 1200x630 pixels for the best display across platforms. Minimum 600x315.

og:url: the canonical URL of the page.

og:type: website, article, product, profile. This affects how some platforms categorize and display the content.

The Image Changes Everything

Honestly, people share links primarily because the preview card looks good. A share card with a compelling 1200x630 image, a punchy title, and a clear description gets clicked. A share card with a missing image and auto-generated title gets scrolled past.

If you’re running social media campaigns, prepare OG tags for landing pages before launch. Nothing kills campaign momentum like discovering your share cards look broken on launch day. Use Facebook’s Sharing Debugger after deployment to force a cache refresh and verify everything renders correctly.

OG Tags and Twitter

Twitter/X has its own card system (twitter:card, twitter:title, etc.) but falls back to OG tags when Twitter-specific tags aren’t present. So if you only set OG tags, Twitter will use them. For precise control over how your links appear on Twitter specifically, add dedicated Twitter Card tags using the Twitter Card Generator.

The Meta Tag Generator covers standard SEO meta tags alongside OG tags for complete page metadata. Everything processes in your browser, safe for unpublished content.
