Signal Chat Generator

Create realistic Signal private messenger chat mockups with blue bubbles

Signal chats without the Signal app

Signal’s got a reputation. End-to-end encryption, disappearing messages, no ads, no trackers, it’s the messenger journalists and activists swear by. And sometimes you need a screenshot of a Signal conversation without actually having one.

This generator builds authentic Signal chat mockups right in your browser. The blue sent bubbles, light gray received bubbles, those tiny double-check read receipts, the disappearing message timer icon, every visual detail matches what you’d see on a real device. Canvas-rendered, downloadable as PNG, completely offline.

Building your mockup

  1. Enter the contact name and pick an optional status (Online, Last seen, etc.).
  2. Add messages, choose sent or received for each one.
  3. Set a timestamp per message (like “2:45 PM” or “Jan 7”).
  4. Pick a delivery status for sent messages: Sent, Delivered, or Read.
  5. Toggle the disappearing messages timer to show that Signal-specific icon.
  6. Switch between light and dark themes.
  7. Hit Download PNG when it looks right.

What’s included

  • Signal’s blue sent bubbles: that specific shade of Signal blue (#3A76F0) with white text
  • Light gray received bubbles: clean and minimal, just like the real app
  • Read receipt checkmarks: single check (sent), double check (delivered), filled double check (read)
  • Disappearing message timer: the circular countdown icon Signal shows when ephemeral mode is on
  • Conversation header: contact name, status text, back arrow, phone and video call icons
  • Dark mode: Signal’s actual dark theme with adjusted bubble and text colors

Where people use these

Journalism. Reporters illustrate stories about secure communication. A Signal screenshot next to an article about encryption policy is way more compelling than a stock photo of a padlock. But using a real conversation raises source protection issues. Mockups solve that.

Privacy advocacy. Writing a blog post about why people should switch to Signal? Show them what the interface actually looks like. A mockup with a realistic conversation about weekend plans normalizes the app.

Presentations on cybersecurity. Security trainers demonstrate how encrypted messaging works. “Here’s what a Signal conversation looks like”, with a mockup, you control the content and don’t expose real data.

Film and TV props. Production designers need phone screens for scenes. A Signal conversation implies the character values privacy. It’s a storytelling shortcut.

App comparison content. Reviewing Signal vs. WhatsApp vs. Telegram? Mockups of each platform’s chat view give readers an instant visual comparison. Consistent, controlled, no screenshots of real conversations.

FAQ

Is there any connection to Signal’s servers?

None at all. This runs entirely in your browser using the Canvas API. No network requests, no Signal account needed.

Can I simulate disappearing messages?

Yes. Toggle the disappearing messages option and a small timer icon appears next to each message, just like Signal displays when the feature is active.

Does the dark mode match Signal’s real dark theme?

It uses Signal’s actual dark background (#121212) with the correct blue accent and text contrast values. Very close to the real thing.

What read receipt styles are available?

Three states: a single gray checkmark (sent), double gray checkmarks (delivered), and double filled checkmarks (read). Just like Signal itself.

Can I upload a custom profile picture?

Absolutely. Click the avatar placeholder to upload any image. It crops into a circle matching Signal’s design.
