YouTube comments that look the part
Ever tried to screenshot a YouTube comment for a presentation, only to realize the ones above and below it have language you can’t include? Or maybe the comment you want to reference got buried under 3,000 newer replies. Mockups fix all of that.
This tool builds YouTube comment screenshots on canvas. You set the username, profile picture, comment text, timestamp, like count, and reply count. Toggle a verified badge or creator heart. Pin the comment. Mark it as edited. The output matches YouTube’s actual comment layout, dark or light theme, and downloads as a PNG.
Building your comment
Type the username (with the @ prefix if you want it). Write your comment text, it wraps automatically to match YouTube’s line width. Set the timestamp to something like “2 weeks ago” or “3 hours ago.”
Adjust the like count (it’ll format as “1.2K” for large numbers) and set the reply count if you want to show threaded responses. Toggle the verified checkmark to add YouTube’s blue badge next to the username. Enable the creator heart to show that red heart from the video owner. Mark it as pinned to add the pin banner at the top.
Switch between dark and light themes. YouTube’s dark mode uses #0F0F0F as the background with white text. Light mode is classic white with dark text.
Click Generate to render the canvas, then Download PNG to save it.
Practical applications
Video creators promoting their own content. Need a screenshot of a particularly positive comment for your community tab post or Twitter? Mock one up from a real comment to get a clean version without the surrounding clutter.
Marketers running influencer campaigns. Show clients what positive engagement looks like under their sponsored video. A clean comment mockup in a pitch deck speaks louder than a paragraph of metrics.
Teachers and researchers studying online discourse. When your paper references specific types of YouTube comments, mockups let you illustrate your point without linking to volatile, real-world content that might get deleted.
Meme and content creators building YouTube-themed content. The “YouTube comment as reaction” format is huge across platforms, and clean mockups work better than cluttered real screenshots.
What’s realistic about it
The verified badge uses YouTube’s exact blue checkmark styling, it sits right next to the username with the correct spacing. The creator heart overlaps the bottom-right corner of the like button, matching YouTube’s actual implementation.
The “pinned by @channel” banner renders above the comment with the pin icon and author name. The “(edited)” tag after the timestamp uses YouTube’s muted gray text.
Thumbs up and thumbs down icons are positioned correctly with the like count between them. The “Reply” text link and reply count appear below the interaction row. Profile pictures render as circles with the exact 40px diameter YouTube uses.
Font sizes, line heights, and padding values are based on YouTube’s actual CSS. Honestly, the mockup is more consistent than YouTube’s own interface, which varies slightly between desktop and mobile views.
FAQ
Can I upload a profile picture? Yes. Click the avatar area to upload any image. It’ll crop into YouTube’s circular avatar format. Without an upload, a colored circle with the user’s initial appears.
Does the like count format automatically? Yes. Enter a number like 1200 and it displays as “1.2K”. Enter 45000 and you get “45K”. Numbers under 1000 show as-is.
Can I show multiple comments? The tool focuses on generating one clean comment at a time. For multiple comments, generate each separately and combine them in an image editor, or use the tool multiple times.
What about reply threads? The reply count appears as “X replies” below the comment with the expand arrow. The actual reply content isn’t rendered, it shows the collapsed view, which is how most people screenshot YouTube comments anyway.
Is the verified badge optional? Absolutely. Toggle it on for channel accounts and official profiles, leave it off for regular user comments. Same goes for the pinned and creator heart badges.
