Reddit posts, fabricated to perfection
Reddit has a look that’s instantly recognizable. The upvote/downvote arrows, the subreddit name in bold, the username with “u/” prefix, award icons, comment count, there’s a lot going on in a single post, and this tool recreates all of it.
Build a complete Reddit post mockup from scratch. Set the subreddit, username, post title, body text, upvote count, comment count, timestamp, and number of awards. Toggle between light and dark mode. Download the whole thing as a PNG.
Every Reddit detail, on canvas
The mockup follows Reddit’s current card-style layout. At the top: subreddit icon area with “r/SubredditName”, posted by “u/username”, and a timestamp. The upvote/downvote column sits on the left with the vote count between the arrows (highlighted orange when upvoted). Post title in large bold text. Body text below with natural word wrapping.
Award badges appear as small colored circles next to the post metadata, gold, silver, and other award types that Reddit users recognize instantly. The bottom bar shows the comment count with a chat bubble icon and a share button.
Dark mode switches to Reddit’s actual dark palette: that slightly warm dark gray (#1A1A1B) rather than pure black. Text, icons, and borders all adjust to match.
Where Reddit mockups come in handy
Marketing case studies. Showing how a brand’s Reddit campaign performed? Mockups let you illustrate the post without linking to content that might get deleted or buried.
Community management training. Train new moderators with example posts showing different scenarios, rule violations, quality contributions, engagement patterns. Realistic mockups teach faster than text descriptions.
Journalism and research. Academic papers and articles about Reddit culture need visual examples. Mockups avoid privacy concerns around screenshotting real users’ posts.
Content strategy. Planning an AMA or product launch post? See exactly how it’ll look in the subreddit before you hit publish. Adjust the title, body, and expected engagement numbers until it feels right.
Meme creation. Let’s be real, a chunk of Reddit mockup usage is for memes, parody posts, and humor content. And that’s totally fine.
Nailing the Reddit vibe
Upvote counts on Reddit use “k” abbreviation above 1,000 (“2.4k” not “2,400”). Timestamps show as relative time: “8h” for hours, “3d” for days. Subreddit names always start with “r/” and usernames with “u/”. Awards range from the common silver award to gold, platinum, and community-specific ones.
The body text field supports longer content, Reddit posts can be paragraphs long, and the mockup wraps text properly. But for a clean screenshot, keep it concise. Two to four sentences looks most natural.
FAQ
Can I customize the subreddit name to anything?
Yes. Type any subreddit name, real or fictional. The mockup will render it with the “r/” prefix automatically. Great for hypothetical scenarios or parody content.
Does this connect to Reddit in any way?
No. It’s a pure client-side canvas renderer. Nothing is fetched from or sent to Reddit. No account needed.
Can I show the post as upvoted or downvoted?
The mockup highlights the upvote arrow in orange by default (matching Reddit’s “already upvoted” state). You can also set it to neutral or downvoted with the blue arrow.
What about comments, can I add those?
This version focuses on the post itself. Top-level comment mockups with nested replies may come in a future update.
What resolution does it export at?
The canvas renders at 2x DPI (780px effective width at retina quality). Looks sharp in documents, presentations, and web content.
Does dark mode look like Reddit’s actual dark theme?
Yes. The dark mode uses Reddit’s real dark background color (#1A1A1B) and matching text, border, and icon colors. It’s visually accurate.
